This
January will be the 26th anniversary of the federal holiday celebrating
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To honor Dr. King, more than one million
volunteers around the country will spend this day serving their
communities, and YGL-B will be a part of it! We'll join Greater DC Cares
to take part in one of many projects in the DC area. Projects include:
painting murals or classrooms at a local school, playing educational
games or participating in a reading circle with children, and helping to
organize a library at a shelter. Start off the new year by lending a
hand and join our team! When: Monday, January 16, 2012, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Where: Our project/location will be determined in mid-December. Why: Because President Obama says so. How: Please click here to join the YGL-B team, by selecting YGL-B from the dropdown menu. There is a $25 registration fee to help cover supplies and programming costs for the day. Carpools and other logistics will be determined when we have our project location. Questions? To read more about the MLK Day of Service, please see the Event Website.
